Rising HSP Junior Picked for USA Basketball Team

Rising junior, Anthony Edwards, will compete in the FIBA U17 World Cup for Men on the USA team this summer in Argentina.

Rising junior Anthony Edwards has been selected as a member of the U17 USA Men's Basketball team that competes at the FIBA U17 World Cup for Men. The biennial competition will be held in Rosario and Santa Fe, Argentina from June 26-July 8, 2018. The U17 USA Men's Basketball team has won the gold medal in all four championships contested since 2010.

The FIBA U17 World Cup features the world's top 17-year-old and younger players, and the U.S. dominates the competition, racking up a perfect 30-0 record since its inception. The MVP award has always been given to a member of the USA team. Some recognizable names that have played on the U17 USA Men's Basketball team include Brad Beal, Wendall Carter Jr., Quinn Cook, and Harry Giles.

Before heading off to Argentina to compete against countries including Egypt, Canada, Croatia, and Turkey, Anthony will travel to Colorado Springs, Colorado from June 15-18 to train and practice with the team at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.

Anthony has also received an offer from the University of Virginia to play basketball upon his graduation.
