He went on to obtain his master’s degree in instructional technology at Western Governors University, and also holds a master of theology degree.

Gribble stated he was fortunate to have had several great teachers in his life who inspired him to pursue a career in history education.

“I love the story that history presents,” Gribble said of his lifelong passion. ”The idea that we can attempt to fathom the experiences of another person in another time and place, and in so doing perhaps understand and appreciate our own lives is a beautiful thing to me.”

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) recognizes outstanding fifth to 12th-grade teachers of American history and related fields (such as social studies, government and citizenship education) in public, private and parochial schools.

This is in keeping with the society’s mission to promote patriotism, preserve American history and secure America’s future through better education. The Society focuses on American history through a yearly contest among teacher candidates nominated by students and colleagues. Chapter nominees are submitted to a state DAR committee to be considered for a state award.
