Riverwood Names Isaac Seals 2017 Coach Of The Year
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2017 Coach of the Year Award to Isaac Seals.
From RAA: The Riverwood Athletic Association (RAA) hosted their second annual RAA Coaches Dinner & Awards Presentation on Friday, Sept. 22 at the school. Held prior to the varsity football game and catered by Low Country Barbecue, the event honored and recognized Raider coaches for their years of service to the school.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2017 Coach of the Year Award to Isaac Seals. Seals, the long-time girls cross-country and girls track & field coach, received this year's award in recognition of his outstanding service and dedication in mentoring and developing the character of student athletes, and for contributions to the greater Riverwood community.

Seals is a member of the Riverwood International Charter School Science Department faculty and began his coaching tenure at Riverwood in 1990. Although he has primarily coached cross country and track, Seals also enjoyed serving as a varsity football assistant coach between 1991 and 1995. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he was a three-sport athlete at East High School in Cleveland.
Seals was captain of the football team during his high school senior year, captain of the track team in both his junior and senior years and played on the basketball team. He continued his football career at Ohio University in Athens while earning a bachelor's degree. While attending Ohio University, Seals was also a member of the Bondo Club (Martial Arts) and participated in AAU Track. He also holds a master's degree in education.

- 1991 Fulton County Co-Track Coach of the Year
- 1999 Region 5AAA Cross Country Coach of the Year - Boys
- 1999 Region 5AAA Cross Country Coach of the Year - Girls
- 1998 Region 5AAA Cross Country Coach of the Year - Boys
- 1998 Region 5AAA Cross Country Coach of the Year - Girls
- Track and Field Programs qualified for State Meet Championships in 21 out of 23 years
- Girls Cross Country Team qualified for State Meet Championship in 17 out of 19 years
- 5AAA Girls Cross Country State: named runner-up for four years
- 5AAA Girls Cross Country State: placed fourth for two years
- 5AAA Girls Cross Country State: placed sixth for two 2 years
Coach Seals and wife, Bernadette, have two children: Isaac, who graduated in 2015 from the United States Naval Academy, and Jeanelle, a class of 2017 member of the Naval Academy.
