SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Riverwood International Charter School recently announced that rising senior Chandler McCleskey won a "Future Leaders of America" scholarship from the Fulton County Law Week Committee. He will attend a Washington Workshop Seminar from June 22- 28. McCleskey accepted the award at the annual Fulton County Law Week ceremony on May 1 at the Fulton County Juvenile Court reception hall.

McCleskey went through an extensive application and interview process for the scholarship,
competing with outstanding high school students from across Metro Atlanta. The scholarship
covers round-trip airfare, tuition, room and board, and all expenses associated with the
Washington Workshop Congressional Seminar. This six day program seeks to increase citizen
participation in the electoral process while increasing students’ knowledge of contemporary
events through informative, on site dialogue sessions with leaders from both the federal
government and private sectors. Malone Law is sponsoring McCleskey’s scholarship.

The 2019 summer workshop offers a unique experience to study American government and
history with sophomore to senior grade students from across the country. During their week in Washington, D.C., students will attend meetings of the Senate, the House of Representatives, and the Supreme Court, and will become acquainted with other governmental offices and institutions.
They will also attend an event at the historic Dumbarton house, national headquarters of The
National Society of the Colonial Dames of America.
