Riverwood Student To Play Tennis At Georgia Southern

Elizabeth Goines, signed a commitment to play tennis at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.

Riverwood International School: Riverwood International Charter School senior, Elizabeth Goines, signed a commitment to play tennis at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro. She received an athletic scholarship to play for the Eagles, a Division I team that competes in the Sun Belt Conference. Riverwood head tennis coach, Tricia Ward, remarks, “Elizabeth has been such a positive addition to the Riverwood tennis team both on and off the courts. She went undefeated throughout last season both in regular season play, and in the State playoffs. We are so excited for her future plans and are looking forward to another successful season with Elizabeth leading the way.”

Goines joined the Riverwood Girls Tennis team her junior year, after transferring in 10 th grade from another school. She played Line 1 Singles as a junior and expects to do the same this year. She trains daily under the direction of coach Kenyon Generette-Oliver at Universal Tennis Academy at Piedmont Park. Notes Generette-Oliver, “I have been Elizabeth’s coach since she was ten years old. Every year she has amazed me by her willingness to keep busting through the wall. I’m just thrilled that her dreams of being a collegiate tennis player are beginning to take flight.” Goines is the daughter of Leanne and Clay Goines, who both attended Georgia Southern University. Leanne is also a graduate of Riverwood.
