Riverwood Students Advance To State Science, Engineering Fair

Three projects (four students) are continuing to the 70th Georgia Science & Engineering Fair.

From Riverwood Int'l School: Four students from Riverwood International Charter School are advancing to the State Level of the Georgia Science & Engineering Fair. Six projects from the Riverwood Science Fair, held in mid-January, were submitted to the Fulton Regional Science & Engineering Fair, which took place on February 3. Three projects (four students) are continuing to the 70th Georgia Science & Engineering Fair. This year's State competition is taking place March 22-24 at the Classic Center in Athens.

Tyara Thompson (Combating the Impact of Sub-concussive Hits on the Brain), Max Seidel (Super Strength), and Coleman Alvarez and Ryan Stoddard (Using Robotics to Teach Sign Language) are representing Riverwood in Athens. Alvarez and Stoddard also received the Intel Excellence in Computer Science Award and placed first in their category. A select number of projects will be chosen to advance to the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair to be held in Pittsburgh in May 2018. Other Riverwood students who won awards at the Regional level include: Hayes Miller and Neha Devineni (U.S. Stockholm Junior Water Prize Regional Award; Second Place in Category) and Chandler McCleskey and Eashan Sinha (Special Award; Second Place in Category).
