Riverwood Students Chosen For Global Youth Ambassador Program
YAP 2018 is traveling to Germany in June and will provide a unique opportunity to foster transatlantic relationships.

From Riverwood Int'l School: Riverwood International Charter School congratulates Malcolm Stewart, LaBrauns Stinson, and Zechiah Weekley for being chosen to participate in the 2018 Global Youth Ambassador Program (GYAP). GYAP 2018 is traveling to Germany in June and will provide a unique opportunity to foster transatlantic relationships.
GYAP 2018 starts June 1 with a two week leadership academy. Students will receive German language instruction, cultural competence training, and will learn a great deal about German history and current events. Public speaking and workforce preparedness are components of the leadership academy, too. Part of the Peer to Peer Teen Exchange Program is a homestay with local families in Nuremberg. Beginning the week of June 16, the group will be attending high school classes, touring Nuremberg’s cultural sites, and attending an official reception hosted by city officials. Other major cities on the trip are Munich and Berlin. GYAP partners with a variety of American and German institutions, such as Amerikahaus, Deutsch-Amerikanisches Institute Nuremberg, the Atlanta-Nuremberg Sister City Committee, International Affairs, City of Nuremberg, and Goethe Zentrum Atlanta. As a result, this summer’s itinerary includes site visits to American companies based in Germany.
Headed up by former Fulton County Chairman John Eaves, GYAP is celebrating its 10th year in providing quality global leadership training to high school students. GYAP is a comprehensive global education initiative which empowers its members to become competitive in the global economy. To be considered for the program, the students must receive a high school counselor’s recommendation, meet GPA requirements, and provide at least two letters of recommendation.
