Riverwood Students Show Off Talent in Beltline Lantern Parade

The students created lanterns and participated in the 7th annual parade, which was held along the Atlanta Beltline's Eastside Trail.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Members of Riverwood International Charter School's National Art Honors Society participated in the 7th annual Art on the Atlanta BeltLine Lantern Parade.

Billed as the largest parade since its inception, the event, which was held Sept. 10, has become synonymous with colorful lanterns worn or carried along a 2-mile route on the Eastside Trail of the Atlanta BeltLine.

This is the second year the Raider chapter of the society created lanterns and walked in the parade. The group of 22 enjoyed the outing and was delighted to see a large number of their Riverwood peers along the route. The parade represents the Atlanta’s BeltLine’s power to connect and unite, both in a geographic and community sense.

The National Arts Honor Society recognizes students with both talent and an interest in art, helping them attain their highest potential in all forms, and raise awareness of art education throughout the school and community.

Although the Raider NAHS chapter started just three years ago, it has grown to 45 members. Many of the NAHS members will present artwork in the upcoming Fall Showcase of Performing and Visual Arts, which will be held Thursday, Nov. 10.
