Riverwood Students Win FBLA Awards At State Conference

The conferences include workshops and competitions in a variety of business-related events.

From Riverwood Int'l: Members of the Riverwood International Charter School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter attended the FBLA Regional Leadership Conference at Alpharetta High School in February and the FBLA State Leadership Conference in March. The conferences include workshops and competitions in a variety of business-related events.

At the state conference, held at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta from March 23-24, 2018, three Raiders received Business Achievement Awards. Congratulations to David Antonino, winner at the America Level, and to Chandler McCleskey and Shreya Rekapalli, acknowledged at both Future, Business, and Leader Levels. Antonino received an invitation to participate at the National Leadership Conference (NLC) taking place in Baltimore, Maryland this summer. The Business Achievement Awards Program recognizes levels of leadership achievement, each consisting of business, education, and leadership elements.

In addition to Antonino, two other Raiders won at the state event and qualified to advance to the NLC. Luca Maddaleni placed 1st in Help Desk and 6th place in Computer Problem Solving. Chandler McCleskey placed 2nd in Sales Presentation and 4th in Introduction to FBLA. Both Maddaleni and McCleskey will attend and compete at the NLC.

Prior to the State competition, the Raider FBLA attended the FBLA Regional Leadership Conference at Alpharetta High School in February. Region winners were: Luca Maddaleni (1st in Help Desk), Shreya Rekapalli (2nd in Job Interview), David Antonino (2nd in Marketing), Chandler McCleskey (2nd in Sales Presentation), and Jordan Tyner (7th in Introduction to Information Technology).

The Riverwood chapter won the Bronze Award for Chapter of the Year. This award recognizes chapter
management, membership recruitment, public relations, service projects, conference participation, and FBLA programs and projects. Riverwood’s FBLA advisers are Paula Chesser, Michelle Finley, and Veronica Randolph.
