Roads Remain Closed Following Storms in Sandy Springs
The storms that blew through the city Tuesday evening brought down many trees and power lines.
SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- As of Wednesday afternoon, several roads in Sandy Springs remain impassable as Georgia Power works to restore electricity to its customers.
The city, along with metro Atlanta and north Georgia, was battered Tuesday evening as a line of severe thunderstorms rolled through the area.
As of 4 p.m. March 22, the following roads are affected:

- Mabry Road at Spalding Drive – Major repairs are needed as poles were broken. It will likely be closed through the night.
- 2640 Spalding Drive – Major repairs are needed as poles were broken. This road will likely be closed through the night.
- River Valley, Bridgewood to Amberidge - River Valley is closed to thru traffic. Sandy Springs has installed message boards, as Georgia Power will likely not complete this work before tomorrow.
- Thornwood Drive – This residential street is closed. The city does not have a time estimate from Georgia Power on repairs.
Residents can check on the status of Georgia Power repairs by visiting the company's website. Georgia Power's map indicates a few hundred customers remain affected by power outages in Sandy Springs.
Clean-up efforts continue, and motorists are asked to use caution since remaining debris from the March 21 storm could be in or around roadways.
