Rotary Club To Host Public Safety Awards Lunch

During the event scheduled for Oct. 19, city of Sandy Springs fire, police and EMS professionals will be recognized for their service.

Fire Chief Keith Sanders and Police Chief Ken DeSimone will present awards to their respective department honorees.

Slated to be honored this year are:

  • 2015 Chief Fire Officer of the Year - Division Commander Donald Willbanks
  • 2015 Paramedic of the Year - Firefighter Kevin Parks
  • 2015 Fire Fighter of the Year - Firefighter Daniel Fullmore
  • 2015 Fire Officer of the Year - Captain James Reeves
  • 2015 Police Officers of the Year - Officers Elizardo Rodriguez and Katrina Bruce
  • 2015 Police Supervisor of the Year - Sergeant Scott Levy

The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs during the month of October will celebrate the city’s public safety employees by hosting the awards ceremony as well as organizing dinners catering to these local heroes.

This year’s dinners will take place at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, Wednesday, Oct. 21 and Thursday, Oct. 22 at Fire Station No. 2 at 135 Johnson Ferry Road.

Dinner will be provided by Carl’s Catering, Brooklyn’s Cafe and Ippolito’s.

These dinners are served over three consecutive evenings to accommodate the shifts of public safety personnel.

The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs has a 44-year history of service both internationally and locally to the Sandy Springs community.

Luncheon meetings are held most Mondays at 12:15 p.m. at the Hilton Perimeter Suites on Peachtree Dunwoody Road in Sandy Springs.

The club welcomes interested business leaders, professionals and community leaders to visit for lunch. Reservations aren’t required but may be made in advance at www.sandyspringsrotary.org.
