Rotary Club Presidents Take Pie In The Face at Festival

The Rotary Clubs of Sandy Springs and Dunwoody competed to see which group can collect the most food for the Community Assistance Center.

In April, the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs challenged the Rotary Club of Dunwoody to see which organization could collect the most canned food for the Community Assistance Center’s (CAC) food bank.

On the line was a pie in the face for the club president who lost the challenge.

On May 2, during the CAC’s third annual Food ’N Fun Festival, Gene Jordan, president of the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs, took a whipped cream pie in the face from Rotary Club of Dunwoody President Scott Jennings.

In turn, Scott Jennings agreed to also take a whipped cream pie in the face, which Gene Jordan happily obliged. Afterwards, Gene Jordan presented a check for $2,500 from the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs to CAC Executive Director Tamara Carrera and CAC Board President Catherine Lautenbacher.

The Community Assistance Center serves residents in both Sandy Springs and Dunwoody.

The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs has a 44-year history of service both internationally and locally to the Sandy Springs community. Luncheon meetings are held most Mondays at 12:15 p.m. at the Hilton Perimeter Suites on Peachtree Dunwoody Road in Sandy Springs.

The club welcomes interested business leaders, professionals and community leaders to visit for lunch. Reservations aren’t required but may be made in advance on the club’s website.
