Rotary Club Recognizes Senior Care Professionals Of The Year

Sandy Springs, GA -- On Monday, the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs held its 2016 Senior Adult Health Care Professionals of the Year Awards ceremony.

Each award recipient was nominated by his or her’s respective employers and work with senior citizens throughout the Sandy Springs/perimeter area in leading health care service enterprises.

The 2016 Senior Adult Health Care Professionals of the Year Awards is a component of the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs’ celebration of the Rotary Has Heart Project.

Bob Hagan, who serves as the 2015-16 district governor for Rotary District 6900, as the guest speaker at the Feb. 1 event. This year’s award recipients were:

  • Campbell-Stone: Jacqueline Smith, personal care coordinator
  • Dorothy C. Benson Senior Complex Adult Day Care: Hezenia White, public health nurse technician
  • Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital Emergency Department: John Moore, RN, staff nurse, nurse scholar
  • Hammond Glen: Joan Wilkins, resident assistant
  • Hollander Senior Living of Sandy Springs: Alison Schlenger, nurse practitioner
  • The Mansions at Sandy Springs: Katie Jones, owner, CareMinders of Buckhead
  • Sterling Place: Babet Walton, caregiver
  • Sunrise of Huntcliff Summit: Bernice Mellman, activity and volunteer coordinator

The Rotary Has Heart initiative was also recognized by the city of Sandy Springs in a Feb. 2 proclamation issued by Mayor Rusty Paul, declaring Feb. 14 as Rotary Has Heart Day in the city. On Valentine’s Day, the club will host a Senior Citizens Senior Prom at the Benson Senior Complex.

Rotary Has Heart is a Rotary zones 33/34 program that involves 1,600 Rotary clubs with a combined membership of over 67,500 community and business leaders in eight American states and 20 Caribbean countries.
