Sandy Springs Awards Grants To Nonprofit Organizations
The Serving Sandy Springs program provides assistance to groups located in the city or substantially serve city residents.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- On Tuesday, Sandy Springs leaders approved distributing funds from the city’s Serving Sandy Springs grant program to assist local civic groups for the coming year.
A total of 21 applications were submitted this year for consideration, and 11 organizations were awarded with additional resources.

- Act 3 Productions: $7,740 to support each production with contracted professional
services, including orchestra members and musical directors. - Am Yisrael Chai, Inc.: $4,000 to fund requested audio/visual and marketing needs.
- Atlanta Jewish Music Festival, Inc.: $2,050 to fund equipment rental, supply and
professional services requests. - Every Woman Works, Inc.: $2,500 to fund supply requests.
- Friends of Dorothy C. Benson Senior Multipurpose Complex, Inc.: $5,000 to continue the Uber/Senior program, which provides rides on Uber for Sandy Springs house bound residents 62 years of age and over to venues within the city.
- Mary Hall Freedom House, Inc.: $5,000 to support its WorkNOW initiative, which currently provides job readiness training, computer literacy, GED preparation and employment assistance to 400 Sandy Springs women.
- Sandy Springs Education Force, Inc.: $9,300 to support its STEAM Showcase Event, Outreach STEAM field trips and programs.
- Housing Initiative of North Fulton, Inc. (d/b/a HomeStretch): $5,000 to support its apartment turnover program.
- Friends of North Springs High School, Inc.: $4,195 to purchase acoustic treatment for the school’s recording studio in the Magnet Performing Arts program.
- Sandy Springs Tennis Association, Inc.: $3,690 to fund certain expenses for an after-school tennis program for area elementary school students, including facility rental fees, t-shirts for program participants, and various program supplies (tennis equipment, water bottles and nutritional supplies).
- Los Niños Primero, Inc: $1,525 to fund fees for a musical director, who will be contracted to provide year-round instruction for the orchestra and choral program from September 2016 to July 2017.
The program was established to provide a consistent response from the city for requests for financial resources on behalf of non-profit organizations. Sandy Springs allocated $50,000 to be used towards the program.
To be eligible to apply for funding, applicants must be a 501(c)(3) qualified non-profit organization in good standing, located in the city or substantially serving residents of the Sandy Springs.

An organization should provide programs or services to residents of Sandy Springs and must support the goals and objectives of at least one of the City Council’s adopted priorities: public safety, transportation, recreation and cultural enhancement, natural resource protection, community appearance, downtown development, sustainable growth or economic development.
Funding is not granted to support operational, administrative or fundraising functions.
