- 9500 block of Huntcliff Trace, 30350, Feb. 23: Someone attempted to force entry to the home at around 10:45 a.m. The alarm activated and police were dispatched but cancelled minutes later. Minutes after that, a complainant called 9-1-1 and reported that someone tried to force a door window open but the breaking glass apparently set off the alarm. Nothing appeared missing. Capt. Steve Rose with the Sandy Springs Police Department says: A good idea is to never assume an alarm if false.
- 8300 block of Roswell Road, 30350, Feb. 24: Sometime between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., someone entered the victim’s apartment and took two guitars, video game system (X-Box,) digital camera and equipment and other photography items. No signs of forced entry were found.
- 6851 Roswell Road, 30328, Feb. 24: Sometime between Feb. 22 -24, someone forced a door open to the victim’s condominium. Pieces of furniture had been painted with black spray paint. In addition, several items including two TVs, jewelry, a MacBook Air, and three digital cameras. The keys to a 2011 Jeep Cherokee and the Jeep itself were also missing. The victim is currently in the process of divorcing her husband and, subsequently, you would think he would top the short list of suspects. Well, it turns out that she has an ex-boyfriend, one whom she has never met, who lives in Arizona and is a member of a motorcycle club called Rough Riders Bike Club. The victim doesn’t think the husband would do this but the ex-boyfriend, whom she has never met, would.
Thefts
- 8450 Roswell Road (Hellenic Towers), 30350, Feb. 21: A 71-year-old man reported that someone took a $7,900 cashiers check from his room. He believes his 45-year-old girlfriend has it, which he intended for her to have for car repairs, so I’m not sure what is going on there. Might be more to that.
- 6120 Peachtree Dunwoody Road (Hilton Hotel), 30328, Feb. 21: A guest reported that sometime between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. someone came into her room and took her wallet from her purse.
- 6250 PDR, 30328, Feb. 23: A cabbie reported he picked up a woman from Covington and drove her to the Marriott Courtyard. The woman got out, said she had to get the money from inside, and never returned to pay the fare that was over $100.
- 500 block of Tahoma Drive, 30350, Feb. 23: A resident hired a man to demolish an old deck and build a new one. The man was given $1,500 to demolish. He asked for $3,000 to purchase the wood for the new deck, which he was given by check. He then asked for $2,000 more to purchase wood — which is what he asked $3,000 dollars for earlier. The victim then asked for his $4,500 back and then the suspect refused to finish the work and would not repay the victim. The suspect previously represented himself as working for a local painting company, but the victim found out he left that company some months ago. Capt. Rose says: Do your homework on contracting work like this. Get references and I.D. on the person so you know who you’re dealing with. Don’t pay the balance of anything up front. Usually contractors want half up front and the other half at completion.
- 6650 Roswell Road, 30328, Feb. 23: A 78-year-old woman reported that while she was shopping at the Goodwill Store, someone lifted her wallet from her purse that was left open in the shopping cart. The card was later used at the QT on Roswell Road and DSW Shoes in Alpharetta. Advice from Capt. Rose: If you are going to put your purse here, make sure it is snapped, zipped, and/or otherwise secure. Don’t walk away from the cart. Be mindful of strangers approaching to ask you a random question while you are shopping. This may be a tag team effort to steal. Normally, the first guy distracts the victim and while doing so a second person, who is not necessarily a man, will slip in and remove the wallet. If someone does this while you’re shopping, turn and face the cart while you politely give him a totally bogus response on information as to how to cook rice or whatever silly question he or she asked.
- The foreman of a landscape crew that was taking a lunch break at the QT on Roswell Road, said while they were inside, someone removed four Stihl backpack blowers that were left unsecured in the back of the truck.
- 8779 Dunwoody Place, 30350, Feb. 24: Someone stole a 600 pound metal recycle bin, used to collect clothing from a commercial parking lot. The complainant suspects a competitor.
- 6615 Roswell Road, 30350, Feb. 25: A 90 year old woman reported that, while shopping at the Publix, someone stole her wallet from her purse. She found that a credit card had been used before the bank could close the card out.

The man made a hand gesture to him like he was shooting a gun and the victim turned and walked away. He was jumped seconds later by the same man who hit him on the head with a pair of brass knuckles, leaving a laceration. The victim was taken to Northside Hospital.
- 6151 Powers Ferry Road, 30339, Feb. 23: Cops were called to meet a man who said another man was angry after being accused of stealing. The suspect then grabbed a fire extinguisher and tried to spray him with it but it didn’t work. The man then struck the victim in the face with the extinguisher, causing a large laceration. The suspect then fled. The victim said the man, who was an employee, had been staying at the residence on Powers Ferry Road. The suspect’s boss said he will fire the man immediately. The case is pending warrants on the suspect.
Other Things

She noticed the male kept showing up at locations that were totally unrelated to their training. Since he didn’t know where her daily schedule took her, she became suspicious and checked the underside of her car where she found what turned out to be a GPS tracking device. She actually found a second device under the car. Both were removed and logged into evidence at the PD.
