Thefts
- A 44-year-old woman reported that while she was in jail, someone stole her 55-inch TV, cellphone, two-
thousand dollars’ worth of clothing and medication including methadone, Lortab and phenobarbital. She suspects her roommate. - Cops were called to 789 Hammond Drive (30328) around 9:30 a.m. to meet with a man who said the following: He picked up a friend, whom he met online five months ago. They spent the following day together and the morning after that, he drove her back to her residence on Hammond Drive. She couldn’t find her keys, saying she left them at his place. He told her he had to be somewhere and couldn’t drive back but after his appointment, he’d retrieve her keys. In return, she grabbed his keys and ran out the door. He called the cops and spoke to the woman. The officer spoke with her and said if she didn’t return the keys, he would have to charge her with theft. She told the officer that in return, she would call the cops and charge HIM with theft. The drama continues.
- A man on Summer Lake Drive, 30350, 8/15: A 28-year-old man said he and his girlfriend decided to break up. She packed up and had all her stuff at the front door which is when he decided to leave for a bit to avoid a confrontation. He left and came back the following day and sure enough, his ex-girlfriend was gone as was the following: PS4 game system, six PS4 games, Canon camera, six watches, headphones, .22 caliber gun and ammo. Capt. Steve Rose says: All this totaled over about $2,900. The victim said the ex’s sister and her boyfriend came and helped her move and therefore are on the short list of suspects. Again, sorry for the loss but fundamental error though. Do not leave an ex or intended ex alone with your stuff that you like. After the romance is over, it’s all business.
- 5580 Roswell Road, 30342, 8/15: Around 7:30 a.m., the manager of Lifetime Fitness called the police and said that a suspect entered the business by going around where the pool is and getting passed the lock (somehow). He went into the locker room where he was seen by one of the members. The member locked his stuff and took a shower. When he got out, he saw the man going through his locker and had his wallet. The member confronted the man. Staff members came and escorted the man to the front to verify his story that he was a member. He then fled through the front door. The report said the man was in the club yesterday and is suspected of a theft then. He is described as a black male, short, thin, about 25 years old. They believe that the man was able to record the victim using the locker’s combination lock (built in) with his camera while he pretended to use the phone. Rose says: Well this guy defeated the lock on the pool gate and then the combination lock in the locker room. Don’t leave your stuff there. Get in the habit of stashing it in your car trunk before going to the club. If you’re driving an upscale SUV, find a creative place to hide it. Don’t get lazy.
