Steve Rose says: A skimmer is a tern-like bird, a flat perforated scoop spoon, or a device that captures the magnetic account information of a debit/credit card that is swiped on it. It is what you slide your card through at the store. The problem is that one can obtain one, purchased easily on the Internet for example, and swipe away.
