Sandy Springs Businessman Eric Hunger Opens Georgia's First ElectroBike Store

Opening Day, Sept. 10, turned out to be an important day for bicycle accomplishments in Hunger's family

When Sandy Springs businessman Eric Hunger chose Sept. 10 as the Grand Opening day for Georgia's first ElectroBike retail store, he had no idea that the date had figured in his family's history decades ago. Just before the store opened, Hunger, president of ElectroBike Georgia, found a photo at his mother's home of his maternal grandfather, Wade Hatcher, dated Sept. 10, 1927. Hatcher is pictured with his bike, having just won a bicycle race. Hunger, who hadn't known the photo existed, was so moved by the coincidence of the two dates, he has hung the photo in his new ElectroBike store. He is pictured above holding his grandfather's photo with daughters Alexandra Hunger Stoller and Caroline Hunger.

ElectroBike Georgia's first retail store is located at 2484 Briarcliff Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30329. ElectroBikes are state-of-the art, motorized bicycles powered by a rechargeable Lithium ion battery. The brand was launched in Mexico in 2012 and quickly spread to the U.S. www.electrobikega.com

The new shop offers seven brands of ElectroBikes ranging from mountain bikes to traditional styles to bicycles that fold up, in a variety of colors and sizes, along with helmets, gear and bicycle accessories. Trained staff also provides ElectroBike repair, servicing, safety checks, brake adjustments, puncture repair, bike assembly and more.

“ElectroBikes are perfect for recreation, and also offer an affordable and efficient answer to Atlanta’s traffic challenges,” said Hunger. “The small motors are quiet and clean and provide power when you want it. ElectroBikes can be operated as traditional bicycles, or the rider can flip a switch to engage the throttle or turn on the pedal-assist feature. The Lithium ion batteries recharge in about an hour and a half simply by plugging them into a standard wall outlet, making the bikes perfect for commuters. Some models even fold up so you can easily take them with you into your home or office.”

The new ElectroBike store is open Monday-Thursday, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon - 4 p.m. www.electrobikega.com
