Sandy Springs City Councilmen Announce Re-Election Bids
Andy Bauman and John Paulson have both said they will seek additional four-year terms.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Two elected officials in Sandy Springs are getting ahead of the curve and announcing their plans to run for re-election to their respective City Council seats months before voters head to the polls.
Andy Bauman, who represents District 6, and John Paulson of District 1 said Monday they are both running for additional four-year terms on the council. Both men made their announcements separately.
Bauman said he has been "sincerely grateful" for the opportunity to serve on the City Council, as he's able to represent family, friends and neighbors "in our everyday quality of life issues."

"It's never glamorous and perhaps sometimes a bit thankless, but I never take for granted the privilege and responsibility in serving our community," he added in a press release. "And in so many ways it's no different than what so many of you do - serving on church or temple boards; volunteering in our schools; leading local non-profits; coaching youth sports; or being active in neighborhood associations and involved in local issues. All of us doing our very best to make our community a better place to live, work and play."
For his part, Paulson said he's running "one final time" because there are a significant number of projects underway or that will start soon that he "strong interest" in seeing wrap up during his tenure. He notes his day job as an engineer allows him to bring a different perspective to the challenges Sandy Springs faces.

"You may not know it but much of my work as a councilman is in assisting citizens figuring out where to go to get their questions answered within city government," he said in a Facebook post. "You all have lives outside city government, so if I can help when you are dealing with our city I have been of service."
The city's general election is slated for Nov. 7, and the office of mayor as well as the six City Council seats are up for grabs. Qualifying for the elections will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21 through Thursday, Aug. 24 and from 8:30 a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 25. The qualifying fees for mayor is $1,000 and $540 for the city council seats.
