Sandy Springs Co-Hosts International Police Conference

The cities of Atlanta, Dunwoody, and Sandy Springs Police Departments have partnered to host the International Conference for Police and Law Enforcement Executives, June 9-11, at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta.

The conference brings together officials from around the U.S. and more than seven different countries to focus on topics impacting the law enforcement community. The theme for the Conference is “The New Reality: Can We Deliver?”

“Our role in law enforcement doesn’t end at a city line, and partnering to discuss how we prepare for the future is a natural extension of how Sandy Springs, Atlanta and Dunwoody currently work together,” said Sandy Springs Public Safety Director Terry Sult, in a media statement.

Atlanta Police Chief George Turner added, “Every police department’s key mission is to fight crime. However, it can be increasingly difficult due to a myriad of challenges such as shrinking budgets and sophisticated criminal thinking. Conferences like this one allow police executives to discuss, brainstorm, and share their experiences so we can all learn from one another.”

Speakers from the United States, Israel, Austria, Canada and Great Britain will discuss topics including shifts in economic and social factors and the emergence of home grown terrorism, integrating city government initiatives alongside crime prevention, managing the message with social media and doing more with shrinking budgets.

“The goal of the three days is to share experiences and plan ahead. The Conference enables experienced veterans the opportunity to share those real-world experiences with the next generation of police leadership in addition to sharing strategies that can benefit us all tomorrow,” said Dunwoody Police Chief Billy Grogan.
