Sandy Springs To Consider Construction Manager For City Center Project
The construction manager would work alongside the city and its partners in the design and construction of facilities within the project.

The Sandy Springs City Council on Tuesday is set to consider choosing a company as the city’s proposed construction manager at risk for its City Center project.
The resolution will come before the council at its Jan. 6 meeting, which starts at 6 p.m. at Sandy Springs City Hall.
The resolution, if approved, would also authorize the city manager and city attorney to negotiate a contract with the company.

The city in October issued a request for qualifications for a construction manager, who would work alongside the city and its partners — Carter/Selig (program manager), Rosser International (architect) and jB+a, Inc. (landscape architect) — in the design and construction of the civic facilities within the project.
The selected firm will assist in the design phase of the project by evaluating cost, schedules and implications of alternative designs, as well as constructability reviews and value engineering.

The council in September approved a Construction Manager at Risk delivery method for the project. This method brings a manager in during the design phase, to advise on costs, schedule, materials, methods and logistics. The construction manager will also provide a guaranteed maximum price for the project based upon the drawings and specifications.
Council members on Tuesday will also hear an update on the S.R. 400/MARTA expansion, review the November 2014 financial report, consider approving alcoholic beverage licenses for Electric City Bottle Shoppe at 5901 Roswell Road and Fujiyama Atlanta at 5600 Roswell Road Suite M-011.
The council’s full agenda can be viewed on its website. During its work session, which starts at 7 p.m., the governing body will receive a briefing on the Hammond Drive improvement project and a natural resources protection update.
Sandy Springs City Hall is at 7840 Roswell Road and the meeting will take place at the City Council Chambers in Building 500.
