The Sandy Springs City Council on Tuesday will consider a purchase and sale agreement of property in connection to the project to realign the intersection of Roswell Road and Windsor Parkway.
If approved, the city would purchase the property at 4577 Roswell Road from PDB Family Limited Partnership, LLLP for $1.95 million.

The land currently has a structure that’s been approved to serve as a funeral home and also has a structure that’s used as an auction gallery.
The relocation project will realign Windsor Parkway to the north and require the demolition of the funeral home on the property. After the acquisition, the property will continue to be a conforming lot and the auction gallery structure will remain on the property.

However, preliminary analysis indicates certain locations ”may maintain human remains from a former cemetery,” according to the meeting agenda packet.
Possible remains appear to be located under the funeral home structure and the parking lot immediately adjacent to the building. As part of the transaction, the city is seeking authority for the relocation of any remains pursuant to Georgia law, which includes notice to descendants as well as public advertising.
Any remains will be relocated to Arlington Cemetery under the supervision of a qualified archeologist. The approval of the relocation of any remains is a condition precedent to the city having an obligation to purchase the property.
The council will also consider appointing Darlene Trigg, Jonathan Levine, Reed Haggard and Cindy Johnson to the Board of Ethics and purchasing right-of-way, permanent drainage and temporary construction easements in relation to the Powers Ferry Road at Heards Drive intersection improvement project.
Tuesday’s meeting will start at 6 p.m. Feb. 3 and will be held in the Council Chambers, which are in Building 500 at Sandy Springs City Hall. City Hall is at 7840 Roswell Road. A work session will be followed by the council’s meeting.
