This community-wide program encourages students to pursue a career in the STEM — science, technology, engineering, and math — fields.
SSEF’s STEM event recently earned statewide recognition by the Technology Association of Georgia as a Georgia STEM Education Award Winner. As in prior years, SSEF, community members, educators and civic leaders will once again partner with the Georgia Tech Research Institute to inspire students to consider STEM professions, specifically this year, in the field of communications technology.

“What an incredible opportunity for our students and our community to experience cutting-edge technology in science, technology, engineering and math,” said Fulton County School Board Member and former SSEF Board Chairwoman Julia Bernath. “SSEF is a true partner in preparing our students for a successful future.”
Next week’s event will kick off Thursday, Feb. 26 at North Springs Charter High School. Students will engage in an exciting hands-on exhibition from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the community is invited to view the exhibits, attend a reception and participate in a formal presentation by Lockheed Martin’s Vice President and General Manager Shan Cooper.
The initiative will conclude March 6 at Riverwood International Charter School’s Career Fair, where SSEF will showcase STEM education and career paths in the field of communications technology. In the days in between, students in all nine of Sandy Springs feeder schools will engage in STEM activities further emphasizing the relevance and impact of STEM.
