Sandy Springs Election Results: Hunter Hill Leads Democratic Opponent

Incumbent Republican Hunter Hill appears on his way to victory over Democrat Antron Johnson.

Residents in Sandy Springs who live in Georgia Senate District 6 are indicating they want to stick with their current state senator.

With 25 out of 32 precincts reporting, unofficial results show incumbent Republican Hunter Hill leading the race with 73 percent, or 13,826 votes to Democrat Antron Johnson’s 27 percent, or 5,102 votes.

Additionally, voters in Sandy Springs and north Fulton also appear to be on their way to re-electing U.S. Rep. Tom Price to another two-year term in Congress. With 91 out of 122 precincts reporting, Price is leading the race in Fulton with 67 percent, or 45,875 votes to Democrat Robert Montigel’s 33 percent, or 22,551 votes.

  • Republican John Albers (incumbent): 69 percent, or 22,874 votes
  • Democrat Akhtar Sadiq: 31 percent, or 10,286 votes

House District 48 (11 out of 14 precincts reporting):

  • Republican Harry Geisinger (incumbent): 65 percent, or 7,802 votes
    Democrat James Johnson: 35 percent, or 4,204 votes

House District 50 (13 out of 13 precincts reporting):

  • Republican Lynne Riley (incumbent): 69 percent, or 8,045 votes
  • Democrat Paul Troop: 31 percent, or 3,547 votes

Fulton County Commission District 7 at-large (293 out of 366 precincts reporting)

  • Democrat John Eaves (incumbent): 58 percent, or 95,468 votes
  • Republican Earl Cooper: 42 percent, or 68,687 votes

While the governor’s race has been called for incumbent Republican Governor Nathan Deal, Fulton voters were partial to Democratic challenger Jason Carter. With 293 out of 366 reporting, Carter is leading Deal in the county with 63 percent of the vote to Deal’s 35 percent. Libertarian candidate Andrew Hunt has received 1.95 percent of the vote.

The U.S. Senate rate is also leaning Democratic in Fulton County. Democrat Michelle Nunn has so far received 65 percent of the vote, compared to Republican David Perdue’s 34 percent and Libertarian candidate Amanda Swafford’s .04 percent.

That race has also been called for Perdue.

As for the state schools superintendent race, Democrat Valerie Wilson leads the race in Fulton with 64 percent, compared to Republican Richard Woods at 36 percent.
