As training chief, Adams follows a philosophy that the best safety equipment for a firefighter is a well-trained firefighter.

He began his career as a volunteer in Cherokee County. Adams later joined the ranks of the Fulton County Fire Department in 1996 and was stationed in what was then unincorporated Sandy Springs. Adams has the most continuous service of any member of the fire department related to working with the residents of Sandy Springs, having been assigned within the Sandy Springs area since April 1996.
