Sandy Springs Gets ’Tree City USA’ Designation

It's the eleventh time the city has won the title, which recognizes urban forestry.

From The City of Sandy Springs: The City of Sandy Springs is proud to receive recognition for the eleventh year as a Tree City USA community by the National Arbor Day Foundation. The designation recognizes the City’s commitment to urban forestry.

Sandy Springs joins more than 3,500 other Tree City USA communities across the nation in qualifying for this recognition.

To receive the designation, a community must meet the program’s four core standards established by the Arbor Day Foundation. These standards include maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree care ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry and celebrating Arbor Day. The prestigious designation ensures that a community achieves set standards for proper management of their forest resources. Managing an urban forest provides many benefits including attracting new businesses, jobs and residents. Healthy community trees also provide clean air and water, wildlife habitat, shadier streets, stormwater management and aesthetic beauty.
