Sandy Springs Hires New Assistant City Manager
Doug Edwards previously served as public works director for DeKalb County.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — A new face will join the city of Sandy Springs' management team, taking on the task of overseeing the city's infrastructure. Doug Edwards has been tapped to serve as assistant city manager, a new role where he will bring 20 years of experience in public works, transportation engineering and operational management, the city said Wednesday.
“A focus on infrastructure remains a top priority for the city, and Doug’s leadership experience, along with his strength in collaboration, especially among cross-functional teams, will aid in our ability to ensure top results delivering on our capital improvement, T-SPLOST, stormwater and transportation programs,” said City Manager John McDonough.
Edwards replaces Bryant Poole, who resigned from his post last year for a position in the private sector. Edwards served as a regional client service leader for MWH Global, which is now part of Stantec, a water and natural resources consulting firm. He previously serves as DeKalb County's public works director. He's also worked with consulting engineering firms HDR Engineering ARCADIS, Brown and Caldwell and Weston Solutions.
