Sandy Springs To Host Household Hazardous Waste Day

The city and Keep North Fulton Beautiful will be accepting items such as paints, solvents, motor oil, antifreeze and cooking grease.

The city of Sandy Springs and Keep North Fulton Beautiful will host a Household Hazardous Waste Day next week for Sandy Springs residents.

The event will provide an opportunity to safely dispose of paint and other common, household hazardous waste materials.

Citizens can take advantage of the initiative between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, May 2 at the Worldpay Parking Lot, which is at 600 Morgan Falls Road in Sandy Springs.

This event is open for city of Sandy Springs residents; no businesses or contractors will be allowed to utilize the service.

Registration is required, and can be done online.

The following items will be accepted:

  • paints (10-gallon limit)
  • solvents
  • cleaners
  • aerosols
  • herbicides
  • pesticides
  • motor oil
  • anti-freeze
  • cooking fats, oils, and grease.

Also accepted are pool chemicals, items containing mercury, propane cylinders, fire extinguishers, and smoke detectors; lawn equipment and bicycles can also be delivered for disposal.

Items that will not be accepted are:

  • electronics*
  • medical waste
  • needles
  • ammunition
  • pharmaceuticals
  • non-hazardous Items.

*Electronics are accepted at the Keep North Fulton Beautiful recycling center during normal business hours.
