Sandy Springs Issues Call For Legal Services
It's believed the legal team will include a part-time city attorney, part-time assistant city attorney and two full-time staff attorneys.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- The city of Sandy Springs is in the market for a new firm and attorney to provide legal services to assist in its operations.
Sandy Springs has issued a request for qualifications for legal services, which will lead to the designation of a city attorney and legal staff supporting its efforts.
The move comes follows current City Attorney and State Rep. Wendell Wendell announcing his plans to retire on July 1.

While the position of city attorney is appointed by the mayor, the supporting legal staff is secured through a procured contract agreement. A Request for Qualifications was issued in December, and that process closed without a selection.

“The city attorney’s position is an important role," Mayor Rusty Paul said. "Given the complexity and significance of our legal support, I want to ensure that we have proposals to evaluate which are pulled in from the widest possible pool."

The scope of services calls for providing general legal representation for the city, including legislative work associated with city meetings; preparing oral and written opinions; negotiating and preparing agreements, leases, and contracts; as well as legal research and counseling.
It is anticipated that the legal services team will include a part-time city attorney, part-time assistant city attorney and two full-time staff attorneys.
“The public-private model has resulted in high quality firms generating broad range visioning and innovative thought benefitting the city," Paul continued. "We have enjoyed 11 years of excellent legal service, and have every confidence in the end result of this procurement process."
Proposals are due by 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 22. The scope of work can be viewed online (Municipal Legal Services, 17-054)
