Sandy Springs Man, 24, Charged With Killing Mother

Patrick Wayne Tyson was arrested on Monday after his mother was found inside their Spalding Forrest Court home.

A Sandy Springs man has been charged with killing his mother early Monday morning.

Detectives with the Sandy Springs Police Department have charged Patrick Wayne Tyson, 24, with aggravated assault with intent to commit murder, malice murder and possession of a knife in the commission of a felony.

Officers responded to a 911 call at a home on Spalding Forrest Court around 7:20 a.m. Feb. 16. Tyson allegedly told offiers he returned home after jogging to “find two males inside and his mother bleeding on the floor,” said Sandy Springs police spokesperson Sergeant Ron Momon.

Tyson said the two men fled the home. Cathleen Tyson received several stab wounds to the face and blunt force trauma to the head, Momon stated.

Patrick Tyson was taken back to police headquarters for questioning “after many inconsistencies in his story,” Momon added.

Sandy Springs detectives executed a search warrant at the home and found a knife allegedly used in the crime.

Tyson has been booked into the Fulton County Jail and is being held without bond.
