Sandy Springs Man Hit While Pushing Disabled Car Out Of Roadway
An Alabama resident was also killed in the collision, which was reported Monday evening in Cobb County.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- A Sandy Springs man was injured Monday evening when he was hit by a car while pushing a disabled vehicle out of the roadway.
Officers with the Cobb County Police Department were dispatched around 8:47 p.m. May 1 to Johnson Ferry Road at Hampton Farms Drive in unincorporated Marietta.
Initial reports indicate that two men were pushing a disabled 2006 Dodge Magnum out of the northbound lanes on Johnson Ferry Road just south of Hampton Drive while a woman was steering the car from the driver seat.

A blue 2007 Mazda 3 was traveling northbound on Johnson Ferry Road when the front of the car hit the two male pedestrians as well as the Dodge, Cobb County police said Tuesday.
The driver of the Mazda, 85-year-old Bruce Meacham of Marietta, was not injured in the collision. The woman behind the wheel of the Dodge, 43-year-old Gwendolyn Matthews of Phenix City, Alabama, also escaped injuries in the crash, the agency stated.

However, one male pedestrian pushing the car, 45-year-old Robert Matthews, Jr., also of Phenix City, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cobb police spokesperson Alicia Chilton said the Matthews were husband and wife. The other pedestrian, Sandy Springs resident Kevin Fullerton, 49, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries, police note.
Cobb police say that while the collision remains under investigation, investigators do expect to file charges in connection to the case. Anyone with information is asked to call (770) 499-3987.
