Council members unanimously approved the resolution pertaining to the fire station -- formerly known as the Powers Ferry Fire Station -- at 6025 Raider Drive.
Sandy Springs originally entered into a sublease agreement with the county in May 2006 for the station, which is also known as Sandy Springs Fire Station No. 3. While the sublease has expired, Sandy Springs continues to occupy the station and pays rent outlined in a 10-year agreement that started in January 2009.

Once that agreement ends, Sandy Springs will exercise its option to purchase no later than Oct. 1, 2019. At that time, both Fulton County and the city will enter into an agreement for the city to purchase the station for $5,000. Closing would have to occur before Dec. 31, 2019, however.
If closing does not occur before that date, Sandy Springs will continue to rent the facility for $10,000 per month until closing.
