Sandy Springs Named One of Georgia's Safest Cities
Safewise's ranking of the city did not change from 2016 to 2017.
SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- The city of Sandy Springs is getting high marks for the safe environment its citizens and stakeholders have come to enjoy and rely upon.
The city ranks 27th on Safewise' 50 Safest Cities in Georgia for 2017. The list was unveiled Monday, Jan. 16.
To come up with its list, Safewise used data from the 2015 FBI Crime Report, the most recent statistics available.

It also removed from consideration cities that have fewer than 4,000 residents or those that don’t submit crime data to the FBI.
From there, Safewise then narrows down the list by the number of reported violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape and robbery) and property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft) in those cities.

"To further level the playing field," Safewise also calculated the likelihood of these crimes occurring out of 1,000 people in each city, the company said.
