Sandy Springs Native Completes Internship With Georgia Congressman
Stephen Voljavec served four weeks as an intern for U.S. Rep. Austin Scott, who represents parts of Middle and South Georgia.
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Stephen Voljavec, son of Dr. Alexander and Patricia Voljavec of Sandy Springs, has wrapped up a four-week internship in Washington, D.C., with U.S. Rep. Austin Scott.
Voljavec is a political science major and business administration minor at the University of Mississippi.
“It was a real honor and pleasure to intern for Congressman Scott this summer," Voljavec said. "I would encourage college students that are interested in politics to apply for this internship."

Rep. Scott said his intern program provides college students or recent graduates the chance to learn more about the legislative process while "gaining valuable work experience."
"It allows them to experience how our federal government works firsthand," he added.

Rep. Scott represents the 8th District of Georgia, which stretches along Interstate 75 from Warner Robins to Tifton. The legislator offers internships to college-aged students, and those who have recently graduated from college with an interest in the legislative process.
Young folks selected to be interns have the opportunity to gain a comprehensive view of the practices and procedures of a Congressional office and how the legislative process works. In some cases, college students may be able to obtain academic credit.
