The ribbon cutting for the 83-foot bridge will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 5.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Sandy Springs elected officials will soon cut the ribbon to open a bridge designed to provide enhanced pedestrian access in an area on the southern side of the city.

The ribbon cutting for the Windsor Parkway Pedestrian Bridge will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 5 at 835 Windsor Parkway.

The project was designed to provide safety and connect neighbors to area sidewalks. Specifically, the bridge will improve foot access to the future Windsor Meadows Park and other areas within the community, Sandy Springs notes.

The bridge was built in Virginia and Colorado and was delivered in two pieces. It spans 83 feet, weighs 26,000 pounds and is constructed of weathering steel, which gives it a rusted finish.

The final project, including landscaping and sidewalks, is a $385,000 investment in its commitment to multimodal connectivity, the city adds.
