Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber of Commerce Members Hear Insights from Lee Thomas, Deputy Commissioner of Film, Music and Digital Entertainment for Georgia
Thomas spoke to over 150 Chamber members, elected officials and local business leaders about the industry's positive economic impact.

The Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber of Commerce featured Lee Thomas, Deputy Commissioner of Georgia’s Film, Music and Digital Entertainment office, as the speaker at the organization’s Chamber Luncheon April 14. Over 150 Chamber members joined Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul, elected officials, Chamber board members and others to learn about the film and television industry’s enormous positive impact on the state’s economy.
“The Chamber’s luncheon series is a popular and valuable benefit of membership,” said Tom Mahaffey, president of the Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber. “We bring in industry leaders to speak about business and economic issues and share their insights and expertise. In addition, members have the opportunity to network with each other and expand their own business connections.”
Thomas, a graduate of Sandy Springs’ Marist High School, spoke about the state’s pro-active approach to attracting movies and television shows to film in our state through tax credits and by promoting Georgia’s diverse film location options, experienced labor force and the convenience of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. She said that as of 2014, the film and TV industry contributed approximately $5.2 billion to Georgia’s economy, with much of the money going to support services like accommodations, food and beverage, transportation and skilled labor.
