Sandy Springs Police Chase Ends in Cobb County (UPDATED)

The chase began when officers caught up with an alleged reckless driver on I-285 westbound at Riverside Drive.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Law enforcement agencies in two jurisdictions were able to put an end to a police chase originating in Sandy Springs late Wednesday morning.

Multiple 911 calls were received around 10:30 a.m. of a "reckless driver" on the westbound side of Interstate 285 in Sandy Springs, police spokesperson Capt. Mike Lindstrom said.

Sandy Springs officers located the black Toyota Corolla on I-285 at Riverside Drive, but the driver, 42-year-old Aisha Abdul-Ahad of Atlanta, "refused to stop for officers," Lindstrom added.

The woman, in an attempt to get back on the northbound side of the interstate, made a U-turn and was traveling in the wrong direction on the ramp, police said.
