Tossed Out Treasures Return Feb. 26-27
Don't miss the Sandy Springs Society's ultimate upscale resale event with a showroom filled with thousands of bargains.
The Sandy Springs Society will host the 25th annual Tossed Out Treasures, Atlanta’s ultimate upscale resale event on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26 and 27, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the former Marshalls in Marshalls Plaza, 6337 Roswell Road.
The much-anticipated sale has a history of bringing the ultimate treasure hunting experience to Sandy Springs, with a showroom filled with thousands of bargains in high-end home décor, jewelry, silver, crystal, sports equipment, art, furniture, gently-used clothing, and much more.
One of the members of the Sandy Springs Society dreamed up the upscale resale event in 1992 to raise money for the society’s community causes, and Tossed Out Treasures was born. It quickly mushroomed into a highly anticipated community event.

“Each year the Society doesn’t know where Tossed Out Treasures will be held until a few months or even several weeks before the Sale,” said Stephanie Nelson, co-chairman of the 2016 Tossed Out Treasures.
Once a venue is available, the Society members gather at the location to set up their numerous departments.

“At the beginning of set-up, it is overwhelming to see the thousands of donations scattered in piles,” said Nelson. “But once the doors open to the public, shoppers and volunteers alike are amazed that it looks like a Department Store. It’s an exciting feeling.”
Enthusiastic shoppers travel from surrounding cities, such as Savannah and Athens, and the neighboring states of Alabama, Florida, and North Carolina. The Society members are accustomed to long lines of dedicated patrons outside the doors at the event’s opening. This year’s event returns to the former Marshalls building at 6337 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs, and is one of the best venues to date with its vast space and accessible parking lot.
Treasures have been collected year round by members of the 300-plus Society and the community at large. The event raises up to $73,000 annually with proceeds funding over 25 philanthropic organizations in the local community. This year’s event will be co-chaired by Sandy Spring Society members Stephanie Nelson and Courtney Rose with advisors Kate Dalba, Joan Plunkett, Kathryn Loia and Anna Bradley. This year’s sponsors are Northside Hospital, presenting sponsor; City of Sandy Springs, grant sponsor; and Stream Realty, in-kind sponsor who donated this year’s venue space.
Admission to Tossed Out Treasures is free and open to the public. To purchase treasures in advance of the Sale, a Preview Party will be held on Thursday, February 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. Preview Party attendees can be the first to browse and buy while enjoying dinner, cocktails, and a silent auction. Preview party tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Attendance is limited. To purchase preview party tickets or for more information on the sale, please visit www.sandyspringssociety.org.
