“This project is a defining one for the city,” said Mayor Rusty Paul. “We wanted to create a name and brand that connects with the strong sense of place and pride we have for the entire Sandy Springs community, while at the same time, creating a brand reflective of the shared ownership within this specific area.”

As the community’s “neighborhood,” representatives from neighborhoods throughout the city are invited to bring to the event a jar of dirt.

The soil will be combined to “symbolize the this site will become everyone’s neighborhood,” the city said.

The event will begin promptly at 5 p.m., and participants are asked to enter via the Mt. Vernon entrance to the construction site.
