Sandy Springs Wins Golden Shoe Award
PEDS recognized the city for several key initiatives, including the Next Ten Comprehensive Plan and the City Springs redevelopment project.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — PEDS, an advocacy organization dedicated to making streets and communities in Georgia safe, inviting and accessible to all pedestrians, has awarded Sandy Springs a Golden Shoe Award for its Walk-friendly Suburban Retrofit.
The Golden Shoe Awards ceremony held Jan. 23 celebrates progress in pedestrian friendly initiatives and acknowledges the people and places that are making strides in this effort.
“Creating a unique, vibrant, walkable city center is a vision brought forth by the community," said Mayor Rusty Paul. "As stewards of that vision, it is exciting to watch unfold. We have work to do, but are delighted to be recognized by PEDS."

The organization highlighted several key projects by Sandy Springs which are providing positive impacts, including the Next Ten Comprehensive Plan, its new Development Code and the City Springs mixed-use development project.
“We are pleased by the increased street connectivity, mixed-use, and high-density development which is occurring within Sandy Springs, and wanted to recognize the city for this progress,” said Sally Flocks, president and CEO of PEDS.
