A Seuss Celebration
Holy Innocents' Episcopal School celebrated the birthday of beloved children's book author/illustrator Dr. Seuss with a costumed parade.
If you thought you heard a Who…
On Feb. 28, young students at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School celebrated Dr. Seuss Day by dressing up as a colorful cast of Seuss characters, including Things 1 and 2, Cindy Lou Who, Horton the Elephant, The Lorax, the Grinch’s dog Max, and—of course—the Cat in the Hat.
Holy Innocents’ stages the parade every year to honor the birthday of author/illustrator Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel) who produced such beloved children’s book classics as How The Grinch Stole Christmas and The Cat in the Hat. Dr. Seuss’ birthday, which is actually March 2, has been adopted as the annual date for National Read Across America Day, an initiative on reading created by the National Education Association.

Holy Innocents’ first-graders did an indoor parade this year for Primary-Schoolers, ages 3 through kindergarten, in deference to some unusually cold weather. But a change of venue didn’t put a chill into the festivities.
And there may not have been any green eggs and ham for breakfast before the parade, but there were plenty of Dr. Seuss bookmarks, hats, and a special birthday cake, just for the fun of it. After all, as Dr. Seuss said: “Fun is good.”
