Southern Bistro Named To Georgia's '100 Plates' List

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- The Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Tourism Division has released its 2017 state culinary guide, and a dish from a popular Sandy Springs restaurant is among the most recommended eats visitors should try.

Georgia Eats, Georgia Tourism’s third annual culinary guide, features the wildly popular 100 Plates Locals Love, a guide that features readers' favorite dishes from restaurants across the state.

This year, the Berkshire ham and collard green egg rolls at Southern Bistro in Sandy Springs made the 100 Plates Locals Love list for 2017. One reader states that this option on the menu combines ingredients one would not expect, but that the end result is "so delicious."

The culinary guide also includes 10 flavor tours, feature stories, exclusive recipes from local chefs, popular food festivals and much more.

“Culinary experiences continue to be one of the top drivers of visitor interest when planning a vacation,” said Kevin Langston, deputy commissioner for tourism at the Georgia Department of Economic Development. “Georgia offers visitors unique food and beverage experiences in every corner of the state, and the Georgia Eats guide makes it easy for visitors and locals to discover the many flavors of Georgia.”

Georgia Tourism created 100 Plates Locals Love three years ago as a way to provide visitors with locally-sourced suggestions on where to grab the best bites around the Peach State. This year, more than 750 plates were nominated via ExploreGeorgia.org and evaluated by a panel of judges.

The annual compilation lists dishes and their respective restaurant by region.
