Springmont Students Participate in World Water Monitoring Day

Conserving and protecting our water resources is an important part of of a sustainable future.

As part of our Outdoor Science Education program, Springmont students joined 1.5 million people in 146 countries for World Water Monitoring Day! Organized by EarthEcho International, this international event promotes the testing and protection of local watersheds and is a great way to inspire and empower students to become part of the solution to water issues worldwide. Testing our local stream and sharing the data connects our students to a growing body of citizen scientists who are planning for a sustainable future by working to conserve and protect our water resources. For the 11th consecutive year, Elementary and Middle School students visited Big Trees Forest Preserve in Sandy Springs, spending the morning testing water quality and learning about how storm water and wastewater affect our streams. Community engagement and stewardship of the environment are integral to the Springmont student student experience.
