Springmont Students Place at G3 Drones Competition
Springmont's Robotics Team participated in the G3 Drones for Good competition held at Grady High School on March 16.

Four members of Springmont's Robotics Team, the Springbots, participated the G3 Drones for Good competition held at Grady High School on Saturday, March 16, 2019. G3 Drones for Good is an exciting STEM program for students in grades 6 - 8. Students build and fly their own K'Nex based drones and work with their mentors and teachers to develop an innovative, drone-based solution to a problem in their community, state or the world. Students develop research, problem-solving and communication skills while having fun designing, building and flying their own drones.
Competing as a team for the just the second time and against 28 other teams, their drone scored 17 points, earning an 11th place overall ranking. The students’ creative problem-solving project, a hypothetical fleet of drones designed to help lead people to food, shelter and medical care after a natural disaster, won 1st prize! Team members Ian Alexander, Timothy Williams, Mason Smith and Siddhu Guntur are already looking forward to next year's competition.
