Launched in 2012, the FCS Strategic Plan is focused toward meeting three specific goals: that by 2017, 90 percent of Fulton students will graduate on time; 85 percent of Fulton’s seniors will be eligible for admission to a University System of Georgia college or university; and 100 percent of Fulton’s graduates will be certified work-ready.

Zeff will spotlight some of the district’s successes as well as strategies that are focused on increasing achievement, such as creation of the Achievement Zone, an intensive approach for providing academic support to Banneker High School and its feeder schools.

He will also talk about the district’s emphasis on personalized learning, which is the way Fulton County Schools uses innovative teaching practices and instructional technology to meet students where they are academically. A hallmark of personalized learning environments is how they are customized to meet students’ individual needs, skills and interests.

Prior to the event, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about programs and initiatives that support students, such as the Achievement Zone, school nutrition, grants and the redesigned SAT.

Participants also will leave with a copy of the system’s annual report. Student talent will be featured from schools in each of the district’s four learning communities, including artwork, instrumentalists, and soloists.

State of Our Schools will be held at the Wyndham Atlanta Galleria, located at 6345 Powers Ferry Road in Sandy Springs.

The hour-long program begins at 10:30 a.m., with registration opening at 10 a.m. To preregister, click here.
