Storm Damage/Gas Leak Leads to Evacuation of 100 Apartment Residents

The Red Cross was on the scene at The Falls at Sandy Springs Apartments overnight to assist 100 displaced residents. The overnight storm damaged the dam, also causing a gas leak which forced the evacuation, according to a statement from city spokesperson Sharon Kraun.

A northbound lane on Roswell Road near the Prado shopping center was closed as officials worked to stabilize a dam near the road.
In addition, Lake Forrest Road, between Lake Summit and Chevaux Court, remained closed early Thursday morning. A large pine tree dislodged by the rains hangs precariously over the road. The road will remain closed until the City is able to remove the tree.
