Officers with Sandy Springs Police Department were dispatched to a suspicious activity call at Campbell-Stone Sandy Springs, an independent and assisted living facility, at 350 Carpenter Drive just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Security personnel at the location told officers they observed ”persons entering vehicles in the parking lot,” Sandy Springs police spokesperson Sgt. Ron Momon said.

Momon said an officer saw two vehicles leave the parking lot and drive towards Mountain Brook Lane.
The officer followed the vehicles, and “observed them turn off their headlights,” Momon stated.
Once the vehicles came upon a dead end in a cul-de-sac, the officer blocked the road with his patrol vehicle. That’s when the first vehicle, a silver Jeep Liberty, rammed the patrol car, rendering it “immobile,” Momon said.
The second vehicle, its make and model unknown, drove around the crash, through an adjacent yard and escaped captivity.
The driver of the Jeep fled the scene, and the vehicle was found abandoned on Roswell Road at Mt. Vernon Highway.
The driver, who fled on foot, was apprehended at the Boylston-Hilderbrand Drive intersection and taken into custody without incident. The other teen in the car was also taken into custody.
The two teens, one male and one female, were charged with six counts each of entering auto, obstruction of an officer, reckless driving, aggravated assault on a police officer, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and no driver’s license.
Momon added the officer was not injured in the incident. According to a police incident report, the Jeep was reported stolen from a location in Cobb County.
Both teens were transported to an area Youth Detention Center.
