Girls Escape Apartment Fire By Jumping From Window

Several apartment units were damaged in a fire Tuesday afternoon in Sandy Springs.

According to WSBTV, the fire was reported at Morgan’s Landing apartments, which sits along the 7800 block of Roswell Road. Fox 5 Atlanta notes the fire started around 1 p.m. in Building 200 of the apartment complex, which sits across the highway from Sandy Springs City Hall.

Two girls were injured when they, along with their mother, jumped from a balcony to escape the blaze.

The children were taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite for treatment. Sandy Springs fire crews say 16 units were damaged in the fire, WSBTV reports. No other injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross has been called in to assist families.
