Three St. Joseph's Resurgens Orthopaedics Physicians Named Top Doctors

Drs. Erroll J. Bailey, Steven B. Wertheim and Byron D. Rosenstein of the St. Joseph’s office of Resurgens Orthopaedics — Georgia’s largest orthopaedic practice — were recently honored with prestigious awards for medical performance both locally and nationally. Drs. Bailey and Wertheim were named to the 2015 list of Top Doctors in the July issue of Atlanta magazine and Dr. Rosenstein was included in the prestigious Top Doctor online listing by Castle Connolly healthcare research company.

Ten additional Resurgens Orthopaedics physicians joined Drs. Bailey, Wertheim and Rosenstein as Top Doctor honorees: Edward H. Holliger IV, Robert A. Kelly, Douglas W. Lundy, Milan Patel and Yvonne E. Satterwhite were named to Atlanta magazine’s list while Drs. Roderica E. Cottrell, Tapan K. Daftari, Robert T. Greenfield III, Scott A. Kelly and Philip G. Ploska were included in the prestigious physician listing by Castle Connolly healthcare research company.

The Top Doctors listing is compiled annually by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. — an established healthcare research company based in New York. The organization also compiles Atlanta magazine’s list of Top Doctors annually. Doctors are nominated for consideration through both a nationwide survey and a peer nomination process open to licensed physicians in DeKalb, Fulton, Cobb, Clayton and Gwinnett counties. Castle Connolly’s physician-led team of researchers then select the Top Doctors through a rigorous screening process that includes an evaluation of educational and professional experience.

Dr. Lundy, Resurgens Orthopaedics’ Co-President, said the practice is honored to have so many of its physicians recognized as Top Doctors.

Dr. Erroll J. Bailey practices at Resurgens’ Midtown and St. Joseph’s offices. His areas of expertise include adult reconstruction of the foot and ankle, sports medicine of the foot and ankle, total ankle replacement, ballet dancer injuries, general orthopaedics and diabetic feet. A graduate of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Bailey completed his residency at Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Program and his fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery at St. Luke’s in New York. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Foot & Ankle Society, the Atlanta Orthopaedic Society and the Atlanta Medical Association. Dr. Bailey has been honored as a Top Doctor by Atlanta magazine for five consecutive years.

Dr. Steven B. Wertheim practices at Resurgens’ St. Joseph’s and Windy Hill offices. His areas of expertise include sports medicine, arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder. He completed his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and performed his residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland. He completed a fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in sports medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has a subspecialty certificate in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He is a former team physician with the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL and has cared for numerous professional, Olympic, college, high school and recreational athletes. He is the Medical Director and former co-president of Resurgens Orthopaedics. Dr. Wertheim has been honored as a Top Doctor by Atlanta magazine for three consecutive years.

Dr. Byron D. Rosenstein practices at Resurgens’ St. Joseph’s office. His areas of expertise include sports medicine, total joint replacement and MAKOplasty knee replacement. He completed his medical degree at Northwestern University School of Medicine and his residency at University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the Georgia Orthopaedic Society and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Rosenstein was previously recognized as a Top Doctor in Orthopaedic Surgery by U.S. News & World Report. This marks his second appearance on Castle Connolly’s Top Doctor online listing.
