Titles @ Twilight Return Sept. 6 in Sandy Springs

Lee Dunn will discuss her research on the life John Fletcher Hanson, one of the fathers of the Georgia Institute of Technology.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- The next installment of Heritage Sandy Springs' Titles @ Twilight will focus on the man who helped establish the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Lee Dunn will speak about her research in her quest to learn more about the life of John Fletcher Hanson.

The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 in the Garden Room at the Williams-Payne House in Sandy Springs.

Dunn has researched southern history, garden and landscape history, and genealogy for over 20 years. She has been deeply involved in promoting the preservation and awareness of southern gardens and landscapes for 17 years, through her services as a leader in The Garden Club of Georgia’s historic landscape preservation efforts and was inducted into UGA’s Sigma Pi Kappa Honor Society in recognition of her leadership achievement in historic preservation of Georgia’s cultural landscapes.

Before moving to Georgia, Dunn was a former columnist for Black Forest News in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her weekly column covered city government, school board issues and other community events.

Dunn is a graduate of Pierce College and the Historic Landscape Institute at the University of Virginia.
Most recently, she authored the book "Cracking the Solid South: The Life of Major John Fletcher Hanson, Father of Georgia Tech," published by Mercer University Press.

Held the first Tuesday of each month, Titles @ Twilight promotes local authors whose stories of history and the South represent a variety of perspectives. Titles @ Twilight is free to attend.
